  18. When trying to view any of the 720K disks included with Micrografx
  19. Windows Draw version 3.0, the error messages described below may
  20. appear.
  21.  
  22.  - If one of these disks is in a floppy disk drive and you use a DIR
  23.    command from the Command Prompt, the following error message
  24.    occurs:
  25.  
  26.       The volume does not contain a recognized file system...
  27.  
  28.  - If one of these disks is in a floppy disk drive and you try to open
  29.    the floppy disk drive window in File Manager, the following error
  30.    message occurs:
  31.  
  32.       Disk is not formatted, format it now?
  33.  
  34. These disks are dated 10-91 and support MS-DOS versions 3.1 and later.
  35.  
  36. CAUSE
  37. =====
  38.  
  39. These errors occur because the disks from Micrografx do not strictly
  40. adhere to the FAT standard. In particular, the media byte in the BIOS
  41. parameter block (BPB) and in the FAT do not agree. Windows NT adheres
  42. more strictly to the floppy disk FAT standard than MS-DOS in order to
  43. protect against foreign programs, such as a virus. Other products that
  44. do not adhere strictly to the floppy disk FAT standard may have the
  45. same problem.

  47. WORKAROUND
  48. ==========
  49.  
  50. There are two workarounds that allow Micrografx Windows Draw version
  51. 3.0 to be installed in Windows NT. It is necessary to be able to boot
  52. into MS-DOS; without MS-DOS, it is not possible to install Windows
  53. Draw.
  54.  
  55. Procedure 1
  56. -----------
  57.  
  58. Using MS-DOS, copy all the disks into a directory on the hard drive,
  59. restart Windows NT, and run the install program from the hard drive.
  60.  
  61. Procedure 2
  62. -----------
  63.  
  64. Using MS-DOS, format 10 720K disks and copy all the corresponding
  65. files on each Windows Draw disk to a blank disk. You should not use
  66. DISKCOPY or IMAGE, because they would also copy over the incorrect
  67. BPB.
